Family Cites 'Neglect' In Nursing Home Negligence Lawsuit

A Minnesota family cites repeated neglect as being responsible for the death of their mother, 91-year-old Esther Rannow.  The poor care started when Ms. Rannow entered the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter, MN in February 2007.  In addition to developing a urinary tract infection that went untreated, the family also identifies episodes of poor nursing that cumulatively took a toll on their mother—and eventually claimed her life. Nursing Home Cited For Neglect After Failing To Give Rehab Patient Necessary Medication

A Minnesota nursing home has been cited by the state's Department of Health after investigators determined that staff at the facility failed to provide prescription medication to a patient who was admitted to the facility for short-term rehabilitation.   The investigation was triggered in response to a complaint following the stroke-related death of an elderly woman who was admitted to Lakeshore, Inc. for short-term rehabilitation.  The woman was admitted to the nursing home in order to gain enough strength so she could return back to the assisted living facility where she lived. Sunrise Cited For Neglect After Assisted Living Facility Fails To Provide Timely Treatment For An Injured Resident

Officials at the Minnesota Department of Health have cited a Sunrise Senior Living facility in Rochester, MN for improper care after the facility failed to provide medical attention to a patient who was visibly injured in an altercation with another patient.  According to the department of health investigation, a resident sustained a bruise to his head after he was kicked by another resident.  Despite visible bruising and swelling on his head, staff at the Sunrise facility failed to summon any medical attention for more than 24-hours after the condition was originally noticed.  The man died due to a traumatic brain... Health Care Company Rips Off State By Providing Less Skilled Workers To Care For Ventilator Patients

Criminal charges have been filed against Barbara Currin, the owner of Ometta Vent Care Services. The criminal charges come after a patient Currin was responsible for caring for, tipped off state officials she was not receiving the medical care that the state was paying for.   The tip initiated an investigation by the Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Attorney General.  Both agencies concluded that Ometta was not keeping up its end of the bargain in proving skilled nursing services for vent patients.
