Under a new program initiated by Governor Steve Beshear, Kentuckians will be able to access nursing home inspection reports online.  In addition to clearly identifying who the owner of the each facility is, the website will display recent inspection reports and correction plans submitted by facilities in response to such inspections. Nursing Homes Failure To Implement Use Of Bed-Alarm Blamed For Death Of Elderly Patient

An investigation into the fall-related death of patient at Mountain Manor of Paintsville (Kentucky) has resulted in a type A citation against the facility.  The citation comes after an investigation into a patient’s death at the facility when he fell from his bed. Lawsuit Blames Extendicare For Poor Care Of Nursing Home Patient

A lawsuit brought on behalf of a former resident of an Extendicare nursing home in Kentucky alleges that the operator's corporate negligence is responsible for various injuries that developed during her admission.  In addition to naming Extendicare, the lawsuit further alleges that the nursing home administrators and individual staff members are responsible for the patients injuries. Doctor Alleges Dehydration & Malnutrition In Nursing Home Lawsuit On Behalf Of Relative

Nursing Home Negligence Lawsuit Filed Against Extendicare

Ricky Hamilton, the husband of Kimberly Hamilton, has filed a nursing home negligence lawsuit against Kenwood Nursing Home and the facilities parent company, Extendicare in Madison Circuit Court.  The lawsuit alleges the nursing home deviated from acceptable standards of care and failed to maintain a safe environment.  The lawsuit made a 'jury demand' and seeks an award of medical expenses, attorney fees and punitive damages. Grim Details Emerge Regarding Malnutrition In Kentucky Nursing Home

As we recently discussed, Winchester Centre for Health and Rehabilitation may lose its Medicare and Medicaid funding if it fails to correct the dangerous conditions inspectors have recently found at the facility.  The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have given the facility a February deadline to correct the problems or federal aide will be pulled and daily fines will be imposed. I was reviewing the AARPBulletintoday, and they ran a story about Kentucky nursing home that was cited for reports of alleged nursing home abuse and neglect by nursing state nursing home inspectors.  Winchester Centre for Health and Rehabilitation received a Type A citation- the most serious nursing home citation a state can give-- for problems related to 'medical errors' and consequently the federal government will terminate its Medicare / Medicaid funding.
